This pistol is the Offiziersmodel 1893 and made by the company of mr. Georg Scharfenberg (1831-1906) which was situated in Eisenberg near Mehlis (Germany).

It was made in several different calibers and barrels, a special Swiss-type sight and black after market Bakelite ‘Deer’ grips. The distinctive release button is situated on the left hand side, which in turn tipps open the barrel. It has an external rear hammer. The trigger is adjustable. No makers’s name is visible as these pistols were sold in great numbers to whole sellers who engraved them with their own name. However, a small letter ‘S’ of Scharfenberg is seen on the inside of the frame!

It was a very popular model pistol, well made and very reliable. Scharfenberg closed his doors before the end of WWII.
